Getting Started

Use this path to move from account setup to the first safe sandbox request without exposing credentials or copying large demo apps.

Path

  1. Create your AfriRoute account.
  2. Complete required account verification.
  3. Create a sandbox-scoped API key.
  4. Store the key in an environment variable or secret manager.
  5. Send one minimal sandbox request.
  6. Add webhooks and production approval after the first request works.

Minimal Request

curl --request POST https://api.afriroute.ai/api/v1/sms/send \
--header "Authorization: Bearer $AFRIROUTE_API_KEY" \
--header "Content-Type: application/json" \
--data '{
"to": "+251900000000",
"message": "Hello from AfriRoute",
"country": "ET",
"senderId": "AFRIROUTE"
}'

Use a sandbox key first. Production traffic requires the right account approval, sender identity, billing setup, and product scope.

Keep It Secure

  • Never publish API keys, JWTs, refresh tokens, or webhook secrets.
  • Do not store tokens in browser local storage in public examples.
  • Keep live keys server-side.
  • Use managed AfriRoute Verify for OTP flows.
  • Verify webhook signatures before processing events.
